The official date of change of ownership was October 1, 1955. Kenneth Witt and his wife, the former Bette Moore, wee both natives of Storden. Mr. Witt had served in the Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War for 6 months.
Lee Richard Van Norman passed away on November 22, 2022 at the age of 89, in Coon Rapids, MN. Lee was born in a farmhouse in Windom, MN on August 30, 1933 son of Glen and Julia Van Norman. He proudly served in the United States Army and attended the University of Minnesota. Lee met his beloved wife Lavon Lindberg at a New Years Eve party after he returned home from serving in the Korean War in the United States Army.

Officially the business was Hanson-Witt, Inc. but continued to be known as Hanson Witt Funeral Chapel. It was decided to use the former Hanson facility as it had been originally constructed for use as a funeral home. The merged funeral home continued to work with Mr. Thorstad at the Storden Funeral Home. In May of 1944 Arthur H. Hanson Purchased Mr. Schottle’s interest in the funeral home and he and his wife, Idelle, moved back to Windom.
After moving back to Jackson, she attended the First Baptist Church in Jackson. In June 2000, after having been active in the funeral service profession for 42 years, and having reached the age of 62, Mr. Anderson elected to sell his on half interest in the business and officially retire on October 1, 2000. Gary Lee Pawlitschek was born on June 9, 1944, to John William and Florence Rose Pawlitschek. At age 5, the family moved from Heron Lake to the Jeffers area.

Mr. Hanson was a native of Zumbrota, Minnesota, and had been employed at the Crawford Mortuary in Duluth, Minnesota. He had been married to a Windom lady, Idelle Johnson, in 1947. For a number of years the funeral home was located in the back part of what is now Johnson Hardware Store. This building still exists and houses the repair department of Johnson Hardware Store on the South side of 9th Street next to the alley just East of the current United States Post Office between 4th and 5th Avenues.
Following graduation from University of Minnesota with an MS in Human Anatomy, she moved with her new husband, George, to Stockton, CA where she remained until her death. He enjoyed drinking Budweiser with his buddies and hanging out in his shop. Tom was a Gunsmoke fan, but most of all he loved time with the grandchildren.

Ardoth attended country school in her early years and graduated from Luverne High School with the class of 1948. She enrolled in the School of Cosmetology in Austin, Minnesota, and worked most of her life as a beautician. Darrel Bramstedt passed away with family by his side, on Wednesday, December 7th at Windom Area Health in Windom. Darrel Earl Bramstedt was born on March 3, 1937, to the late Gilbert and Iola Bramstedt in Alpha, Minnesota.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Iola Bramstedt; infant sister, Lottie; brother, Richard Bramstedt; and in-laws, Betty Hussong, Frank Ambrose, Dennis Crowell and Darlene Bramstedt. Schmidt purchased the corporation, each owning equal shares of the stock. Louis Scanlan was born April 13, 1915 in Volga, South Dakota, and was trained in the Mortuary Sciences at the University of Minnesota. After purchasing the funeral home from Mr. Berry he completely redecorated and refurnished the building.
Jerry attended and graduated from South Dakota State University in July of 1966. During summers he worked for Woodbury County Department of Social Services, where he began his employment career as a social worker after graduation. Ron was a longtime, dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom, where he served on the Properties Board and ushered for 25 years. Ardoth was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Kraetsch; her parents; and siblings, Delores Schafer, Elda Trisko, Marlis Babcock, Russel Jauert and Roger Jauert. After retiring, the couple moved to Windom to be closer to family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago or First Plymouth Presbyterian Church, where some family members are buried. Jerry Dale Crow was born on September 27, 1942, in Hawarden, Iowa to William Austin and Lillian Myrtle Crow. He grew up in the Akron, Iowa was baptized at Wesley United Methodist Church in February of 1955 and confirmed in April of 1957. Jerry attended Akron Community Schools graduating in May of 1960. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Meta Vought; brother, Jerry Vought; and sister-in-law, Annette Jacobson. Ron loved playing ball in his younger years, especially wallyball at the Windom Arena.
Barb dedicated herself to her family, staying home to raise and care for her children and manage the household. After the kids were grown, she worked at Park Nicollet Rehab for 10 years. Barb enjoyed traveling to the grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, flower gardening and was active in her Bible study groups.
In 2021, Ardoth moved to the Good Samaritan Society- Sogge Memorial, where she passed away on December 6, 2022. Through the years, Ardoth taught Sunday School and sang in the choir of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luverne. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey & Lyle Jurgens and David & Marylin Hammett; in-laws, Joe & Flo Follen; and sisters, Vickie Schnepf and Debbie Brandmire. Beverly is survived by twins Barbara and Alfred Blum, and grandsons Gabriel and Avery Blum. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Stockton, CA. Following teaching stints, she became a co-founder of the new Planned Parenthood in Stockton, CA and served as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood in the county for over 14 years.
